Mina Magnenat / MinaMH (1947-2017)

After studying jewellery at Arts Décos, she turned to decoration. In the 90s, she set up her own business as a decorator for many small Geneva companies, adding a creative touch to their windows.

At the same time, she presented her work (drawings and paintings) in several group and solo exhibitions throughout her life.

After retiring, she spent much of her time drawing and posting her work on her Instagram account MinaMH.

She created a large community around her world, but not only that. She also shared, discussed, complimented and helped many artists on this social network.

Fille de Paul Magnenat et Pauline Magnenat-Hodler, soeur d’Alfred Magnenat

Fille : Emmanuelle Magnenat

I was always amazed at the richness and depth of what she was able to create online with people. She did not respond to comments on her own posts, but commented on the work of one of her followers.

A book of her graphite work is available.

Between figurative and abstract

Her universe is mainly surrealist. The figurative is combined with the abstract to create these compositions whose depth allows us to penetrate the details of the work. Most of her drawings are executed with graphite on textured paper. Graphite was not the only technique she used, however. In fact, she liked to play with textures and materials in mixed media, especially ink and acrylic.
